Our Research Areas

Our research areas include the tailored design and synthesis of novel π-conjugated molecules with intriguing redox, magnetic and optoelectronic properties, and the exploration of their fundamental electronic properties as well as potential applications in organic (opto)electronics such as organic solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). We are particularly interested in the synthesis of heterocyclic π-conjugates for their self-assembly and chemical reactions on surfaces for the development of molecular quantum materials, such as topological superconductors, in collaboration with physics teams from the University of Basel. This undertaking opens up exciting avenues in the pursuit of state-of-the-art topological quantum bits.
