In our group we focus on the functional characterization of non-protein-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in large cellular RNA/protein complexes, such as the ribosome or the vault particle. We are particularly interested in the structural, catalytic and regulatory roles of ncRNAs during ribosome functioning, translation control, as well as during apoptosis. We approach these aims by applying biochemical, genomic, and bioinformatics tools in model organisms representing all three domains of life (archaea, bacteria and eukarya).
